General discussion • Pi Zero 2 W: Upgrading wpasupplicant package makes Wireless impossible

Hello. I am a regular, run-of the mill Pi user. So, what did I do when I obtained a RPI Zero 2W? I flashed the Pi OS on a microSD card, inserted it into my Pi, and then booted it. After boot, I did the usual commands through SSH:

Code:

sudo apt update

Code:

sudo apt upgrade
However... for some reason... the Zero 2 W kept breaking the SSH connection, and would refuse to connect to the Wi-Fi before completing the upgrade.

Now, this happened multiple times. I tried the Pi Zero 2 W 64-bit desktop, 32-bit desktop, 64-bit lite, and 32-bit lite. They all closed off the SSH connection and refused Wi-Fi connection after I ran the upgrade command.

This was frustrating. I did not know what I was doing that was wrong.

So, after flashing my SD card with a fresh install of the 32-bit Raspberry Pi OS Lite for the Zero 2 W for what felt like the millionth time, I decided not to do the upgrade command.

Instead, I painstakingly, individually upgraded the necessary packages. It took around half an hour.

From what I found, after upgrading everything... the package that broke my SSH connection, made my Pi refuse wireless, and overall caused me the most stress and pain in the past 2 hours was

Code:

wpasupplicant
.

It seems upgrading that is not good for my Pi.

Does anyone else have this same problem? Am I the only one? Did I go crazy for no reason?
