General discussion • Using Pi 5 with Pi-Hole - What else

I am rather ancient and I have been usibg Pis for a couple of years more as a hobby rather than to achieve any real goals

I have recently set-up Pi-Hole on a Pi 5 to protect my home network and it seems to have been successful and, so far, we are not having any significant problems with the blocking. In the past I have played with Openmediavault, Casa0S and Plex.

I recently saw an youtube video about running Pi-Hole and vpn together on a Pi and now I am thinking about what else I can run on the Pi as well as Pi-Hole.

I have a few questions

1. Can other software be run along side Pi-Hole?
2. Which i the "best" way to install the sofware
Simple individual installtion of software
Using some form of containers
Specificallty using something such as OpenMediaVault or CasaOS
or what?

Can you recommend good blogs and videos on these topics

As you can see I am an almost complete novice in this area so I will appreciate any help offered
