It's just the head parking to one side or another in the drive.
In the past, heads sticking in the drive used to be a thing. This was especially common with drives that were on for long periods of time (like days and days as servers do) and then shut down for maintenwnce. Then the heads would stick and the system would not boot up when they were powered back up.
To fix that, one would use a hammer or another hard object to wack the drive a few times on the sides to get the head to loosen up and the system would.biit right up again.
The noise might be annoying, but the drive will be fine.
