General discussion • Re: M.2 Enclosure with a RTL9210B Chip - Is It Good with RPi?

Hi all

In the past I needed to buy a USB to SATA 2.5 Adapter,
and people here highly recommended me on AMS chips.
(I was also recommended to avoid JMS - JMicron chips)

That advice was great, and indeed I bought only AMS chips when buying USB to SATA 2.5 Adapters.

I am now about to buy a USB to M.2 Adapter
(for M.2 NVMe, or M.2 SATA, or both)

I saw one with an AMS chip again (specifically ASM225CM), and I would mostlikely buy it,
but I also saw one with a RTL9210B Chip.

How are Realtek chips for USB M.2 Enclosures/Adapters?

Are they good as AMS?
Or should I stay only with AMS?

Thank you very much
FWIW, these two have worked OK for me:

And so has a UGREEN enclosure for "full-sized" SSD's
