After my last post, which was only about visual changes, the question now is whether there are any changes in performance.
I bought the new Pi5 with 16GB 3 days ago and have been waiting for possible firmware updates. Now I installed Geekbench 6 on a new SD card (Samsung Evo 2024 128GB) and tested it on both models.
Raspberry Pi 5 (16GB):
https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/9890308
Raspberry Pi 5 (8GB):
https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/9890474
Results (8GB vs 16GB):
Single-Core: 837 vs 796
Multi-Core: 1711 vs 1584
YES! The new 16GB is slower than the 8GB... and the CPU on the 16GB model is up to 2 degrees hotter than my older model with less RAM and uses the same amount of watts (idle and load).
Do you have the same results?
