Hi Dougie,
Over the course of the last hour(s) I have gotten the feeling that installing Debian (bookworm64) was a bad idea.
But.... I had recently bought a Pi 5 with 16 GB of RAM, just for fun (I read that you can also install win 11 on it). Unfortunately, I have exceeded the return deadline and now have to keep the thing. Well, now it has unfortunately also turned out that the PI 5 won't work with Windows 11 because of a stepping update of the processor ... that's why now Bookworm.
Do you really think that Ubuntu (maybe with Wine (because of Win apps)) is a good idea?
I've been working with Windows for decades and most recently used Total Commander (worked up from Norton Commander
)
And now I guess I'll have to start all over again with Linux...
In the meantime I had already realized your variant 2 (Github...)
The app (Double Commander) runs quite well and I just tried again to see if the PI 5 runs with the latest (experimental) version of Windows 11 ARM64.
Unfortunately not.![Sad :-(]()
But ... thanks a lot you for your help... and have a nice evening!
Mike
