General discussion • USB flash drive performance

Hi all
I want to buy a couple of budget USB flash drives to boot some Pi 5s from. I purchased a couple of Kingstons from Amazon and had to send them back as the performance was appalling, despite them claiming being USB 3.2 with high read speed. I also purchased one from somewhere else which has nowhere near the read and write speed of a USB 3.1 Fusion drive which I had lying around. So my question is can anybody recommend how I go about sourcing budget USB drives as I don't think I can trust anything written about them. I only need 32Gb, even 16Gb would do. I'm not interested in NMVe as I am not looking for the best performance, I just don't want to buy something of poor quality when there are better drives for a similar price. I just don't know how to find the truth. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Sandisk Ultra fit (USB 3.2) write speed : 14Mb/s
Integral Memory Fusion drive (USB 3.1) : 72Mb/s
