Has there been any discussion about the Raspberry Pi Foundation doing a standalone FPGA chip in the future? An affordable FPGA chip/board (like the Pico) could be a real game changer. FPGAs present a huge educational tool for hardware design with reconfigurable systems.
Additionally, Raspberry PI could create a stock soft processor IP core and people would have instant access to microcontroller capabilities by just uploading a standard file. Plus, one of the most desirable items on the Pico are the PIO state machines. A FPGA would present a very powerful design platform that would far exceed the popular PIO state machines of the Pico.
