After my plan to replace the mice with trackpads those kittens are behaving slightly better. In other news the kittens just declared war on all computer mice and unfortunately won the first battle. I'd be surprised if the element of surprise lasted for long.

In other news, Scratchy has been howling about the need for more compute power. Howling dogs are unpleasant, but this is an emergency.
Apparently eight-socket Lenovo X3950 X6 scale-up servers are plentiful on eBay and one can get a discount by purchasing more than one. As nice as they look, I prefer unsweetened hot chocolate. Unfortunately, kittens find chocolate toxic.
Before going forward with an unwise purchase, I requested an audit to ensure enough power was available. Shy suggested measuring the electrical consumption of each computer while running Pi Race with array sizes small enough to avoid memory contention.
Purr blinked with approval and purred, the main obstacle to super-human AI is a poorly maintained power grid. Scratchy interrupted, what's the use of reaching such a low bar, what's needed is AI with feline levels of intelligence? I'm not so sure.
As the X3950 is not ideal hardware for AI, I think the kittens just want to enjoy the cosy warmth of an additional heater over winter.
