General discussion • RPI5 official case design

Hi, I couldn't find a thread addressing this so I thought I'd have a go.

The design is funadamentaly poor. From what I've been able to discover, it does not allow for the new heatsink cooler addon or the power button, the latter imo being the biggest drawback to the whole board. Unless you have the fingers the size of a five year old, one has to manhandle the naked board to turn it off and on. I just unplug it. The button is a hassle rather than a feature, unlike the RPi4 where you could add a switch to the power cable.

Why didn't someone think of adding a switch to the power cable? A choice could be offered and chargeing more for it: DOH. And allowing for an essential addon, the cooler?

Anyway, I'll have to wait for a bright spark to sell a new case design to address these issues and I'd pay 4 times the price of the official one - but worth it.

Great board but people too focused on that rather than the commericail aspect of selling them.

Cheers, John
