It looks OK to your eyes because you got used to watching 30fps stuff (movies etc.). It basically drops every other frame, making it look like 30fps. If however you'd see it in real 60fps, you'd know that it is actually much smoother. It is pretty much the same with RPI. Dropped frames in 60fps makes it look like a 30fps video. Think of it like the news broadcast on your television compared to the news broadcast inside a movie that you have watched. That is too specific for some i know but movie enthusiast will probly understand what i meant there.I did read the libreElec post previously and that is, probably, what got me, even more, confussedSo on my laptop windows desktop I do get thousands of dropped fames and it still plays OK for my eyes, rPi dropped frames are different thing?4K30 VP9 is generally fine while more demanding 4K60 VP9 content is not possible; it will play but frames are being dropped.
Here is an idea. If you can, download that particular youtube video in its 1080p60fps form and play it back in VLC. You will immediately understand what i mean.
